"A Mary Christmas" Review & Giveaway

I love my Christmas music so when I received the opportunity to check out Mary J. Blige's first Christmas album I was super stoked! We have a local radio station that starts playing Christmas music on November 1st through New Year's. So it's enough to put on in my car (cause I don't travel much) or in the kitchen when I'm doing dishes or cooking but, still, you can only hear the same songs and singers over and over ya know.

I remember my first Mary J. song..."Real Love." I was around 10 years old and I had it on tape and listened to it every day. But I have to say that my favorite Mary J. song is "Family Affair."

"A Mary Christmas" is a breath of fresh air. It's not all pop like or like the "newer" Christmas music that you tend to hear nowadays...it has a bluesy soulfulness to it that I love and really didn't expect to hear. I really enjoyed her take on "Rudolph" and "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" is my favorite song on the album. Here is a full listing of what you'll find:

1. Little Drummer Boy
2. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
3. My Favorite Things
4. This Christmas
5. The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)
6. Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer
7. When You Wish Upon A Star
Duet with Barbra Streisand and Chris Botti
8. Mary, Did You Know
9. Do You Hear What I Hear?
Duet with Jessie J
10. Petit Papa Noel
11. The First Noel

The CD was released on October 15th and you can find it at most major retailers and on Amazon!

I have listened to this CD at least 5 times now. My daughter even asks to listen to it which is a very nice change from some boy bands that we hear a lot of. I think that this CD would be great to add to your Christmas music collection. And I bet that you'll surprise a few people when they hear it and they want to know who is this singing. It took Mary J. 20 years to do a Christmas album and I'd say it was definitely worth the wait!

And we get to give one lucky Clair's Freebies fan their own copy of A Mary Christmas CD that has been personally autographed by Mary J.! Just enter for your chance to win using the Rafflecopter below!
